Due to the overwhelming response, Dubai Laser Treatment is considering opening a branch in Saudi Arabia. For now, our clients from Saudi Arabia can take advantage from our clinics in Dubai.

One of the favorites amongst the people from the Kingdom is Fractional CO2. It is considered by many as one of the finest skincare treatment options available anywhere in the world.

Conditions it can treat

Fractional CO2 treatment can treat a host of conditions. It is ideal for skin laxity and can easily get rid of fine lines and wrinkles that most people develop in their forties. It is also more than useful for correcting the freckles and blemishes that are caused by hyperpigmentation issues. Other pigmentation issues such as Melasma and sun spots too can be treated with the laser treatment.

Fractional CO2 is proficient in correcting scars caused by acne, surgeries and traumas. Acne itself can also be removed with the treatment as the pours are unclogged and the bacteria that causes acne is removed as well. Uneven skin tone and uneven texture can also be fixed.

Fractional CO2 procedure

Fractional CO2 works by fractionating the carbon dioxide laser into tiny shafts. This allows the treatment to bring to use the traditional effectiveness of the carbon dioxide laser without the harshness that carbon dioxide laser treatments typically maintain.

It works be resurfacing the top layer of the skin which is damaged due to various reasons. The laser makes microscopic holes in the skin which helps in removing it. Healthier skin replaces the damaged layer over the next few days. The new skin is healthier in nature and has lesser appearance of the problem that is being treated.

At the same time, the production levels of collagen and elastin in the skin also improve. These are structural proteins that help the skin maintain their firmness and natural elasticity respectively. As the level of the two increases, the overall condition of the skin improves.

Some of the results can be seen right away but complete results can be seen after a couple of weeks. Multiple sessions generally are needed in order to correct most conditions.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure has very little sensation of pain similar to that of a light rubber band snapping against the skin. To numb down the pain, topical anesthetics are applied. Some doctor also use a handheld device to blow cool air to further reduce the feeling of discomfort.

How many treatment sessions are needed?

The exact number of treatment sessions needed depend on a number of factors. These include the condition that is being treated, its extent and how well a person responds to the treatment. For the most part, five to six sessions are enough. This number though can vary either way in individual cases. Generally a four week break is taken between sessions though this period can vary based on factors like area being treated and how well a person recovers from the treatment.

Is everyone a good candidate for the treatment?

Mostly there is no problem for people to get the treatment. However, there are certain factors that may temporarily or permanently rule out a person as a candidate. People with darker skin may not be able to reap benefits from the treatment and possibility of adverse effects increases so they should check with their dermatologist to ensure if they should get the treatment.

People who have used Isotretinoin or Accutane in the last six months should not get the fractional CO2 treatment. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant or who are nursing a baby should not get the treatment. Although no ill effects on the mother or the baby have been proven, not enough research has been done to ensure that there are no ill effects. Therefore exercising caution is a better policy.

What are the side effects and downtime with fractional CO2?

The most common side effects with fractional CO2 are redness and swelling and itching in the treated area. These can last from a couple of hours to a couple of days. There is no treatment needed for these as they will go away on their own. In some rare cases, a person can get bruises temporarily in the treated areas as well.

Photosensitivity is a side effect that is very common so be sure to avoid the sun after the treatment. Wear a large hat when going out in the sun to protect your skin. If the treatment was done on parts of the body other than the face, wear such clothing that entirely covers that part. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF as well to ensure that skin remains protected against the harmful UV rays.

For most people, there is no downtime and they can get back to their daily routine soon after the treatment. Rest is generally recommend but may not be necessary. Be sure to check with your doctor as the downtime can vary in individual cases.
